Hyderabad-based Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) is expecting recognition for its courses from the SAARC group of nations.
“A four-member team from the Association of Higher Management Development Institutes, an organ of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc), and an expert from Bangladesh have held discussions recently in this regard,” said RK Mishra, director, IPE. Mishra expects this to get finalised by December this year. “We would see more foreign students seeking management admissions, hike in research and consultancy work and middle-level employee training programmes after this,” he added.
In December this year, the institute would be organising a joint global conference with the UN International Centre for Promotional Enterprise on the public private partnership (PPP) practices in Hyderabad. This would be attended by delegates from Ficci, CII, ministries of the government.
New campus by Jan
IPE today said it planned to move to its new campus at Shameerpet, near Hyderabad, by Jan-Feb 2014. For the Rs 100-crore facility, IPE secured Rs 60 crore loan from State Bank of India and the remaining from its earnings and donations. The existing campus at Osmania University would however serve as the Centre for research and consultancy activity and employee training programmes. However, it has plans to integrate themgrammes with the new campus in the fiscal 2014-15.
Placements
This year, it expects the average compensation for its campus placements to rise to Rs 7 lakh, up from the last year’s Rs 5 lakh. It is aiming at 280 placements offers this year as against 260 in the previous year. Recruiters are mainly from IT&ITes, banking, public sector enterprises (PSEs).
IPE director said it would strengthen its faculty to 100 from the current 55 in the next 3-4 years. By that time, it expects the total students at its campus to rise to 700-800.
