In what could hint at an upswing in placements even in the rural management sector, the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) saw maximum salary package at its campus rising by 6% from last year. The institute, which concluded its placement process, has achieved 100% placement for the 2012-14 Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM).
While Mumbai-based IFTRA Foods India Pvt. Ltd made the highest salary offer of Rs 19 lakh, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns and runs the Amul brand, emerged again this year as the largest recruiter with 15 offers. Last year, the highest package offered was that of Rs 17.9 lakh while the median salary package was around Rs 7.09 lakh, said institute sources.
Of the 118 strong batch size, while 11 students bagged pre-placement offers during their internship phase, two students opted out of the placement programme this year. In all 234 job offers were made by 75 recruiters which finally saw 116 students being placed in 44 firms.

What's more, a new batch of head hunters emerged in the social entrepreneurship sector this year featuring names like Aarohan Ventures, Invest India Micro Pension Services, and Simpaenergy India at the IRMA campus.
Last year 50 firms offered 200 jobs to a batch of 97 students. Prominent recruiters last year included GCMMF, Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS), Kudumbashree (State Poverty Eradication Mission, Kerala), Yes Bank, Magma Fincorp, and Kancor Ingredients.
