The number of entry-level jobs (zero-five years experience) in top six cities of Uttar Pradesh increased significantly during 2013, says a study by industry body Assocham.

"A total of over 15,400 new jobs were created in six major cities of UP - Agra, Aligarh, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow and Meerut - in calendar year 2013 in all categories and across various sectors. This is against over 11,700 new jobs in 2012, thereby registering a year-on-year growth of about 32 per cent," according to a sector-specific analysis on job trends across the country conducted by the chamber.

"Of the total jobs across all categories generated in these cities, about 82 per cent new jobs were created in the entry level category alone," said Assocham's Secretary General D S Rawat. Most of the jobs in these cities of UP were generated in sectors such as academics; automobile; banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI); fast moving consumer goods (FMCG); information technology enabled services (ITeS); retail; telecom; construction; real estate and engineering," Rawat added. The Assocham Economic Research Bureau (AERB) sourced their inputs primarily from data tracked on a daily basis for vacancies posted by about 4,500 companies via various job portals together with advertisements offering job opportunities published in national and regional newspapers across about 56 prominent cities and 32 sectors.
