KIIT School of Management, a constituent of the city-based KIIT University today entered into a MoU (memorandum of understanding) with global IT major IBM for training the faculty and students on DB2, a data management software.

The MoU was signed by A Samanta, founder of the KIIT Group of Institutions and Himanshu Goyal, head (academic initiatives, developer works and globalisation initiatives) of IBM.

As per the MoU, IBM would provide software and trainers to the KIIT School of Management (KSoM). A Centre of Excellence has been set up within the premises of KSoM to facilitate training on the data management software. On its part, KSoM has assured IBM that it aims to produce 100 IBM certified students by 2010. The MoU would give momentum to educational cooperation between KIIT and IBM, said Samanta.

Talking on the initiative, Goyal said, “We are pleased to collaborate with KSoM for offering training to the faculty and students on the data management software. Apart from providing software, IBM will also send trainers to the KSoM campus from time to time.”

However, Goyal clarified that IBM would not offer any placement assistance to the students who are trained on the data management software.
