"Indian advertising agencies have emerged as a powerful creative force within Asia... the rest of the world views them with anticipation" - Donald Gunn |
Mumbai's McCann Erickson and Ogilvy & Mather have made it to the list of top 50 advertising agencies in the world. The list came out of the industry's most respected awards survey titled The Gunn Report. |
Sharing his views on the top performers today at the Goafest 2008, The Gunn Report's author, Donald Gunn, said, "Indian agencies have emerged as a powerful creative force within Asia. In the rest of the world, they are being viewed with anticipation, and people at the Cannes advertising festival are expecting better work to come out of the Indian advertising industry." |
Prasoon Joshi, chairman and regional executive creative director, Asia Pacific, McCann Erickson, said, "Our performance worldwide has been enhanced further with the success of our campaign for Happy Dent. The sales of this product went up considerably following the campaign. We are confident that some of the work that we have done for Reebok will fetch international awards later this year. We haven't participated in the Goafest this year, but we will see if we can take part later." |
Some of the other award-winning Indian performers such as Grey Worldwide, EURO RSCG and Lowe India were from the print advertisement space. The Gunn Report team also did a survey on whether award-winning commercials really helped the products. |
The survey found that out of 400 award-winning commercials, 86.5 per cent actually led to market success of their respective products. |
Example? Following McCann's campaign, demand for Happy Dent grew so much that Perfetti had to add production capacity to bridge the demand-supply gap. |
