MICA's retail yatra

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), has organised an all-India "Retail Yatra" for students of its post-graduate programme in retail communications management.
 
Fifteen students, accompanied by two faculty members, will cover 10 cities across the country for 15 days, starting April 3.
 
The students will study the various retailing formats prevailing in the country, visit malls, superstores and so on, and also interact with several major retail houses, market research and consulting firms. The tour is being co-sponsored by the Retailers Association of India.
 
Masters in IT from SPJIMR
 
The Mumbai-based S P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) has opened admissions for its post-graduate programme in information technology, which is being conducted in collaboration with the US-based Virginia Polytechnic State University.
 
The last date for admission to the programme is April 19. The 18-month "contact cum offline" curriculum includes classroom sessions that will be conducted by faculty from Virginia Tech and SPJIMR, as well as "career focus application projects" in leading IT companies.
 
The programme has customised learning tracks for graduates as well as working professionals. The top performers in the course will be given scholarships to pursue MBA from Pamplin School of Business, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg.
 
Applicants should be first-class engineering graduates or hold a bachelor's degree in science (computers and IT or mathematics and physics as a major), or a BCA with a year of IT work experience.

Placements at IIPM
 
The Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) recently completed its placement process, with all 600 students being placed. The highest offer was made by UK-based Primus Telecom, which offered Rs 36 lakh a year.
 
The highest domestic placement was with IBM, which offered Rs 7.6 lakh a year.
 
To further improve the placements, IIPM plans to open seven new international offices, in Dubai, Singapore, London, Sydney, Toronto, San Francisco and New Jersey. It is targeting 150 international placements next year.
