Naukri plans education site

Info Edge (India) Limited, which owns the leading job portal Naukri.Com, is planning to launch a website on the education sector within six to eight months.
 
The company is also evaluating options to launch websites on automobile and yellow pages segments. "We will launch our new website on the education sector within six to eight months," Info Edge(India) Chief Operating Officer Hitesh Oberoi said.
 
"The website will offer classified services and all kinds of information related to education field," he said. The company already has several clients from the education sector and is trying to rope in more.
 
"Education sector offers immense potential in terms of advertisement revenue as it accounts for 14-15 per cent of total ad proceeds in the country. Considering this factor, we are moving into the education space," he said.
 
It is also planning to open offices in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. "There are lots of Indians who go to Middle- East countries for better job prospects and these offices will take care of their requirements in a better way," he said.
 
It is already running Naukrigulf.Com which caters to job requirements in the Middle-East. The company posted revenue of Rs 147 crore and profit of Rs 25 crore from its Internet business last year. It employs over 1,200 people and operates through 57 offices in 32 cities in India and overseas offices.
