Nirma Mgmt conclave stresses innovation

Indicating Accenture Technology Labs' interest in working with innovations developed by students and possible buyout of these technologies, Lin Chase, director, Accenture Labs urged students to focus on developing business models in such a manner that all value and profits are retained in India.
 
Chase was speaking on day one of Prayaag - '07, the management conclave organised at the Institute of Management, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. This year, the theme for the event was 'India Inc "" Going Global'.
 
Taking an abstract approach, Chase explained the concept of 'Technology and Business Process Innovation' to the audience. She added that MBA students in India should think of innovation like a Google or Wikipedia instead of just renting employees to other countries.
 
Krishna Gopal, GM (Middle-East), Tech Mahindra, spoke on 'Emerging Markets "" Opportunities and Challenges for IT industry' and urged on why companies should focus on emerging markets.
 
He also emphasised upon the point that Gujarat is the best place for innovation, referring to the cooperative movement.
 
On challenges in project marketing and management in a competitive marketplace, Hemang Gajab, GM (marketing), Siemens spoke on various projects operated by Siemens in India, one of which is the entire electrical project for Nirma. He targeted two segments of the industry "" project marketing and project management.
