Pearl School of Business (PSB), an initiative of garment manufacturing company House of Pearls, plans to launch its Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) programme in all Saarc (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries within three years. The DBA programme is due to commence in India in next January. |
The programme is being introduced together by PSB and its overseas associate, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. The eligibility for this course is a management degree with at least 10 years of experience in strategic management position. The doctoral degree for successful candidates in India would be awarded by AIT. |
The degree is conferred when all course-work, testing, and written research is completed satisfactorily and after it has been examined, reviewed and approved by the committee or other appropriate body. The degree will give the students option of specialising in subjects such as management science, technology management, organisational behaviour, economics or finance. |
The course will comprise online discussions, which will be followed by weekend classes. At the end of the programme, like any other doctorate degree, the participants will have to submit a dissertation. |
"Programmes like these will help us get quality faculty for business education in India," IM Pandey, chairman, Academic board, PSB, said. |
The programme addresses the needs of companies to convert experience into knowledge and formulate theories and paradigms, largely, from the experience of Asian experts. |
PSB has become operational since June this year. From next year onwards, it will accept CAT as well as GMAT scores for entry into its MBA programme. |
