Placement season at LBSIM

Delhi-based Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM) recently completed the placement procedure for its 110 students.
 
The institute saw recruiters from all sectors with Citigroup, Tata Consultancy Services, ACC, HDFC Bank, Indiabulls, Asian Paint, Oracle, Power Finance Corporation and Mahindra & Mahindra being among the prominent recruiters. Several students got multiple offers and the average salary was Rs 5.10 lakh.
 
G L Sharma, placement advisor, LBSIM said that the average salary was 20-25 per cent more than what it was last year.
 
WIBTA awards
 
Infosys Technologies Ltd and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania announced the winners of the Wharton Infosys Business Transformation Awards (WIBTA) 2005 for Asia Pacific (APAC) at Singapore on May 30.
 
The Enterprise Business Transformation Award was presented to Samsung Electronics for being at the forefront of technology revolution by inventing products that inspire digital integration while the Technology Change Agent Award was presented to Wu Ying for inventing and introducing affordable and flexible PHS wireless technology in China.
 
The awards were jointly presented by Patrick Harker, dean, Wharton School, and Srinivas Uppaluri, head, global marketing, Infosys.
 
The jury panel for WIBTA includes Wharton professors Harbir Singh and Edward H Bowman; Former COO of ANZ Banking Group David Boyles; editor-at-large at CNET Networks Esther Dyson; UPS Chairman and CEO UPS Michael Eskew; and Schroder Income Fund Director Sir Paul Judge.
 
Entering its fourth year, the WIBTA award has, over the years, recognised enterprises and individuals who have transformed their businesses and society by leveraging information technology.
 
MDP on business ethics
 
Noida-based Amity Business School's Centre of International Business organised a management development programme "Business ethics and improving effectiveness through cross-cultural values, attitudes, leadership and self renewal" on May 31.
 
The programme was conducted by the centre's director-general Gurinder Singh.
 
He cited real-life examples of corporate visionaries and supported his perspective with examples from the Bhagwat Gita, to help the participants understand the synergy between the mission and one's path to achieve these goals. Self introspective exercises made the session more interactive.
