 On July 24, 1989, the Patalganga complex of Reliance was flooded by flash floods. Fifty thousand tons of garbage, silt, dead animals and junk had to be removed. All the sophisticated electronic equipment had been under water for hours.

 Technical experts from Du Pont, flown in at a considerable cost, estimated a minimum period of 90 to 100 days before the complex could be operational again. The Reliance staff had the entire complex fully functional in 21 days!
