The Hyderabad Management Association (HMA), representing a cross section of managerial fraternity in Andhra Pradesh, is launching a new programme called 'Share Success, Shape Dreams' next week.

The programme is aimed at helping young managers develop a broad understanding of how to integrate all the resources at their command and achieve superior results.

It plans to bring together achievers in the fields of entertainment, management, politics, journalism, public service and sports so that young mangers could meet, listen, learn and share their experiences, the travails and strife they have undergone to be what they are today.

The idea of bringing together achievers is driven by the fact that the youth today is looking for role models for inspiration.

"The focus is to educate, inform and inspire and not lecture," HMA president and chief executive of ITC International Business Division, S Sivakumar, told Business Standard.

Sivakumar, who described success as a combination of inspiration and perspiration, said there was a lot of potential in young managers but they "don't dream big". The programme is meant to spur them to greater professional success.

According to Sivakumar, the programme would provide real life examples of successful persons, the driving force behind them, the challenges, the solutions and the transformation of potential into success.

This would be done by providing the youngsters the opportunity to speak to an achiever, share his vision and dreams, understand what stuff a successful man is made of and then live that dream.

The programme kicks off on December 29 with an interaction with Nagesh Kukunoor. A chemical engineer by profession, Kukunoor, gave up his lucrative career as an environmental consultant in Atlanta and produced 'Hyderabad Blues', his debut film. The low-budget film in English turned out to be the highest grosser.

Apart from the programme, next month HMA would launch two more series - Best Management Practices for SMEs and Smart Manager.

While the SME programme is aimed at upgrading the knowledge and skills of the recipients, training under Smart Manager would be in the areas of negotiating skills, how to manage your boss, managing stress and creativity in management.

HMA is planning to partner with local management schools in implementing these training programmes. Sivakumar said that HMA intended to act as a platform for academia-industry interface.
