Dear Students,

LAST WEEK WE ASKED:

Do you think it is a good decision by AICTE to conduct its own management examination, CMAT?

NO BEST RESPONSE

OTHER RESPONSES:

The decision of AICTE to conduct its own management examination for B-schools i.e. Common Management Entrance Test (C MAT) is good. If the decision about entrance test is decentralize for conduct entrance exam then all institution will get equal chance to get the full strength of the students will apply only to those institution actually from where they want to get education. The design of the entrance test will be improve and the pattern of admission will be change. I believe that now a days it is hard to get management students particularly in state like Gujarat because last year most of new institutions were remain vacant. It can eliminate some drawbacks of common admission test. Moreover it is true that all decision has its own advantages and disadvantages but here advantages will be higher. Even if AICTE needs to regulate donation systems, reservation seats, and Mgt. quota seats after this decision.

An entrance exam needs years to establish its credibility and reliability among the students and institutions. Amidst the hue and cry of one MBA entrance exam for pan-India colleges, AICTE's move to introduce its own entrance exam seems foolhardy. Even CAT was seen with skepticism when it changed to online format in 2009. Reluctance to accept CMAT on part of tier I and tier II MBA colleges  was certainly expected. With most of the colleges in favor of moving to one-exam-for-all format, AICTE's move for a new entrance exam seems destined to be doomed.

- Prashant Gupta, Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi

CMAT scorecard will be used for admission to large number of colleges thereby reducing the burden on students and saving them from giving to many exams. It will not only helps students save money by not applying to various colleges but also reduce the pains of appearing for various other exams. This decision by AICTE is to be appreciated as it brings together all the exams conducted by nation-wide B-schools under its own governing body. It will save both time and money which ultimately is beneficial for students.

-Shivam Chhabra, Integral University, Lucknow

Based on a judgment of the Supreme Court of India, the AICTE in order to reduce the burden of students in attending to multiple examinations is launching this first national level admission test for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in management programs approved by the Council. The initiative has been taken to address the issue of physical, mental and financial stress being imposed on the students through number of entrance examinations being followed by the institutions for admission into management programs. This is surely a good move and will be helpful for students.

- Amit Kumar, Amity Business School, Amity University, Noida

This is the best decision taken by AICTE to relieve student from multiple physical, mental, financial stress caused due to plethora of multiple exam conducted by the Different management institute .The decision will be a boon for student who hail from financially weak family as it will cause less financial, physical and mental strain on them. Currently, many institutes charge exorbitant fee from students even for individual courses they apply for. All this will come to end with CMAT. Further, mostly executive and student holding work experience apply for MBA, and since they work therefore time is always an issue with them. The CMAT will also prove a boon for them as it will save them from writing multiple exams.
