Dear Students,
LAST WEEK WE ASKED: Do you think it is the right time to for working professionals to quit jobs for higher studies?
BEST RESPONSE
In spite of grim job scenario in the present day, there is an ample scope for working professionals to upgrade their educational qualification because higher education will be beneficial in the long run in one’s career. After certain years of experience a stage comes when there is constrained growth in the career and the job profile becomes the repetition of old practices. It is where the higher education comes to the rescue because it enables one to look at the problems in altogether new approach.

OTHER RESPONSES
In the present scenario it is not right for working professionals to quit their jobs and pursue their higher studies. In a dull job scenario like now and the period of recession not only the small organisations but also the large organisations are cutting jobs instead of employing more persons to reduce their expenses. Even a post graduation degree may not guarantee job in such a period. Hence, it is better stick to the job.

In recent times there has been a wide scope for working professionals to upgrade their qualifications as the market is not favorable for professionals. And due to the falling value of the rupee there had been difficult situations everywhere hence this is is the best time for the professionals to leave their jobs and upgrade their knowledge and qualification.

These days despite recession in the economy employees can add value to their resume and competencies by going back to the B-school. However, one needs to have a a backup plan or higher savings or strong family monetary support in order to take a sabbatical for higher studies. However leaving job and going for higher studies does not imply that after joining back in the corporate, one will earn more or get promoted, just because there is addition of qualification or capability.

If the working professionals feel it is the right time to opt for higher studies in order to acquire more knowledge, they may do so.If the working professionals feel that now it is more fruitful to do a job and then after few years they can quit their jobs for higher education, they may continue their jobs because work experience is always valuable.

In current scenario it is very much important that every working professional should have certain amount of higher degree with them. This can be said on the ground that every student who are passing out now is having higher degree certificate so it will create a huge competition to the existing employee.By seeing the current economy slowdown it is suggested that they should go for a higher degree,by the time they complete their course they will have much better option to choose their jobs.

Considering the deprived standards of education and lack of the much needed Industry oriented curriculum in most of the Indian educational institutions, it is not preferable to quit the job for pursuing higher studies irrespective of time. Rather, it is the experience in the industry that drives your potential forward and enable one to reach higher avenues for success. Certification of higher studies in India, can at the most facilitate one to grab a job but it is only the experience in the job that acquaints one to the real world situations.

Considering the weak economic scenario at present, even the thought of leaving a job seems self destructive. Individuals who are the sole bread earners of their families should refrain from taking any such risks in the larger interests of their families. As the pink slip phenomena is doing the rounds quite frequently in Corporate India coupled with a spiraling current account deficit and a weak economic outlook facing the country, incremental job opportunities seem to be a distinct reality. While taking a break from an existing assignment to undergo a part time course could be a good idea, the fruits of such an activity will reap, only later.

I think it is necessary to be more knowledgeable and astute in this current economic scenario. It will take time for the economy to stabilize and GDP to grow above 8%.Working professionals can either continue job along with studies like part time courses to upskill or reskill their knowledge and be competitive or they can opt for full time courses like MBA, PhD or MS from a foreign university. But something out of the 2 has to be worked out in order to remain abreast of latest happenings and drive excellence in their respective fields.

Definitely it is the ideal time for the working professional to go for the opportunity. The business has changed a lot after the recession. The old school thought may not hold true at present which was ok in the past. More over the current job scenario is not favorable at all. Under such situation only the best can survive who can come up with new. And what can be the best for a working professional to quit his job and opt for higher studies which will in term help him get better hold in future job?

With grim economy holding up the current situation, it is reasonable enough for professionals to give themselves a break. Although real time changes cause fluctuations on a day today basis but still stability comes at its own pace. Thus, the mutual benefit lies in working professionals opting for approximately a year long course. Meanwhile, during the downturn they enhance their managerial skills as per the latest trends, by then economy could be expected to have recovered. This will not only help in reducing burden of the companies but also leave space for freshers throughout the organizational ladder to gain experience.

The present economic downturn has stretched for over five years and the global economy is still not showing any signs of a near revival. It would be impractical to leave a job at this point in time considering that companies are not recruiting enough and even if they are ,they are paying considerably less. Although management education can be taken in correspondence which would help to enhance skills which the companies demand.

According to labor bureau statistics of India, 2012 the unemployment has risen steadily with education level. The unemployment among the post graduates stood at 10 % in India in 2012. The economic down turn also has a devastating effect on higher education by making students pay more for colleges. One cannot be sure of when the economic conditions will be normal. After considering all these factors, it is better to show your potential in the existing job and make a change than, quitting the job and waiting for a better job.
