Dear Students,
Our question last week:
Do you think the finance sector will rule the roost despite recessionary trends during placements this year?
Best response
* The world economy has become more prudent in the last few years because of the recessionary trends. Corporates are becoming more pragmatic and are leaving no stone unturned in tapping the best talent from the pool of elite MBA graduates. The future impact of this debt crisis is still debatable and the outcome of this is not predictable. But encapsulating the whole scenario, it can be be said that finance will always dominate the MBA domain with only slight upheavals in terms of salary package, during the recession.

Finance sector plays a significant role in regulating the economy and supporting the flow of capital. Finance is a sector which requires high intellect and is growing rapidly than ever before as compared to any other sector. With industrial and economic development, funds are expeditiously changing hands, finding their ways through financial institutions for a multitude of reasons. Despite recessionary trends, the finance sector will continue to rule the roost.

* I believe that the financial sector is one of the strongest pillars of the Indian economic system. With the opening up of markets and foreign brands trying to invest in the emerging Indian economy, the financial sector would require employees not only conversant with an economic and financial background but also multidisciplinary specialists who would be able to manage Indian and foreign consumers. Hence, there will be a need to recruit people from multidisciplinary sectors. As far as placements are concerned, the financial sector of the country looks rosy with the demand curve moving upwards in the globalised economic setup.
