Dear Students,

LAST WEEK WE ASKED:  Who do you think would benefit more with students interning at political parties?

BEST RESPONSE

The students interning in politics show an increasing acceptability of the political parties to be treated as corporate houses. The students would gain not only an organisational experience but also a hands-on experience of politics. The political parties would gain from the students trained from the best colleges in the country by not only getting a fresh perspective but also innovative methods to target the first-time voters. While the falling placement curves have added to the woes of students but this alternative has emerged to the students rescue; it's a win-win situation for both the party and the students.

- Karan Gupta, Delhi College of Engineering.

OTHER RESPONSES

The internship with political parties will provide students with practical experiences, interaction with a wide horizon of people from voters to workers and leaders. The political parties too can benefit from the technical expertise of skilled professionals in management, advertising, data handling and can also understand the psyche of youth which is an important voter base. Thus its a win-win situation for both.
- Swar Grover, GNDU, Amritsar.

Internships are usually meant to provide practical exposure of the knowledge transfer carried out through classroom teaching. If the students have the fortuity to intern with one of the major political parties then it would be a lifetime experience to apply their management practices and strategies at such level. Although it will be of mutual benefit but it is to the major advantage of students as it is their essential requirement rather than of any political party. Though students have openings at equally good global organizations but the perspicacity in being with political class would be much more stimulating.
- Shivam Chhabra, Integral University, Lucknow.

B-School graduates interning with political parties is a win-win partnership for both. Getting honest feedback from young India and involving professionals and managers is main reason which excites political parties hiring students for short duration internship.  For students it is great learning experience as they will learn how parties raise funds, create campaign strategies, etc. It is best possible way for students to learn to speak in a language that will have greater connect with common man and understand ground reality.
- Nikhil Kele, JBIMS, Mumbai.

With the students interning with the political parties will benefit both the parties in the long run. The political parties will get the correct feedback from the youth and future leaders to can understand the political system and run the country and at the same time it will provide exposure to the students that how the things are done in the Indian political system.
- Jatin Kashyap, Post Graduate Government College, Chandigarh.

This move is no way going to benefit either of the two. Instead students may only get to learn how mismanaged these politicians are. One cannot try and change the system in one day or make these politicians understand opinion at ground level. Also, internships are primarily focused on learning and developing one's skill set and I think neither of the two can be achieved by this approach.
- Talpita Chouhan, VIM, Pune.

An internship in a political party will give a student the key knowledge how a political party works, its campaign strategies, and the budget allocation during election and other times of the year. Students can help the parties in designing various strategies during campaigns and in effective functioning of the parties. The parties will in turn teach the students how to handle risk during crisis situations. It acts as a win-win situation for both, with a student creating efficiency to party and the party adding value to the student, and leading to growth of India.
- Mithun JB, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore.

Political party is a complex organization involving functions like marketing, finance, and human resource management, among others. Student interning with political party is a two way beneficial process benefiting both the political party and the students. Political party benefit as students from Management , engineering, law etc infuses new idea, new management, finance, HR practice in the political party which help it to rejuvenate itself. On the other hand student gain first hand experience of all management concept thus they are learning the practical implementation of theory. In total India as a nation benefit when the young and old meet.
- Nilaya Mitash Shanker, IIT Roorkee.

Internships with political parties are a move in the right direction to enhance the analytical and decision making skills of the students. The students will get a hands-on experience about the dynamics of the organization management and other concepts like leadership styles, public policy, etc. Internships with political parties will also develop their inter-personal skills since they will be connecting with the common man. However, in order to make the internship program more beneficial for the students it has to be designed in such a way that it protects them from the corruption that exists in the system.
- Navjeet Goraya, Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore.

Nowadays student interning with political parties will give them an outlook regarding where they stand as well as political parties will also get to learn new jargons of the academic  life and other related things.Students  will be able to put forward their views because they can easily connect to the youth and the political parties are also looking for youths who can help them in managing their portfolios regarding which section of people they should target. In todays scenario power of youth and knowledge cannot be ignored by any form of existing party.
- Akash Jaiswal, IBS Mumbai.

The common people would be benefitted more with students interning with political parties. As the young generation is a techno-savvy section of the population, the internships would lead to fresh and innovative ideas coming out for good governance. So, they would prove to be more relevant while contributing predicting the present and future scenario. Hence, few of those ideas after scrutinizing should be implemented by the government. Also, in future these interns with best of the brains could be hired by the political parties as leaders or strategy contributors for the betterment of the society.
