It's raining jobs in summer. The headhunters are mostly looking for the undergraduates who have time on their side and are ready to toil for some pocket money during the summer holidays. |
Most of the vacancies, that are published in the newspapers, are in the banking and finance sector. |
Direct Selling Agents (DSAs) of banking and financial institutions are going on a overdrive to recruit undergraduates. |
"Undergraduate candidates usually joins DSAs to earn and learn. So it is easier to manage them," said Nirav Shelat, head of sales, Landmark Credit and Insurance Managers, a leading automobile insurance provider in the state. |
"They hardly leave any stone unturned and that is what DSAs want in the highly competitive market." |
Landmark is also planning to strengthen its sales force during this summer by bringing in new faces. |
Summer brings a win-win situation for employers and employees, where short-term employment generates extra sales volumes. |
"DSAs pay fixed salary plus incentives to the sales executives. DSAs have nothing to loose in case a fresher fails to achieve the given targets as remuneration is directly related to his/her performance. Thus summer generates great employment opportunities and also expands the market for banking and financial products," said Sanjay Shukla, a prominent placement consultant in Vadodara. |
In many cases, DSAs also ask for a minimum level of performance for paying a fixed salary. |
Summer also provides a talent pool for the DSAs, who have to face a high rate of attrition. "Selling the financial products and services is tough job. |
"Summer vacation offers DSAs an opportunity to retain good quality of candidates for a fixed period. Moreover, in many cases candidates also continue to work even after their vacation on a part-time basis," said Shukla. |
"Working during the summer vacation help enrich your bio-data," said Vikram Brahmbhat who recently completed his MBA from Vadodara based management institute. |
"A number of my classmates have good names to show in their profile once they are out of the college," Brahmbhat added. |
