As per a BTI Consultants' Executive Outlook Survey for 2015-16, the talent pool available to any business is no longer a static entity, but an extended and evolving array of relationships that may include full time, part time, portfolio and freelance workers.
Traditionally employees are sourced and they progress on the basis of learning, training and career planning, before they move elsewhere or retire. As per the study, talent ecosystem will go beyond a traditional talent pool and conventional employee-employer arrangements to include borrowed talent, partnership talent, freelance talent and open source talent across geographies. Also, workers will move between roles, places, and categories as they desire or according to an employer's needs.
The survey finds that organisations need to look at talent acquisition in a more holistic way and challenge prevailing views about talent management.
