Training and Advanced Studies in Management and Communications Ltd (Tasmac), one of the pioneers in British management education in India, is starting its third management centre in Kolkata.

Tasmac is offering the management program in association with the university of Wales.

The managing director of Tasmac, Giri Dua, said operations in Kolkata were needed because a lot of students from the eastern region were now studying at existing centres.

Tasmac currently has two centres in Pune and Bangalore.

"Tasmac got more than 50 students from the eastern region in two years," Dua said.

Claiming 100 per cent placement track record for the institute, he admitted most of the students in post graduate management course came from business families, with most rejoining their own respective businesses.

The remaining students are getting placements. "In Pune and Bangalore, placement was not a problem for the 150 students who passed out in two years Tasmac provided jobs to all those who asked for it," Dua said. Companies like Birla Sun Life, BNP Peribas, Ernst & Young, Forbes Marshall and Hindustan Lever participated in campus placements.

The Tasmac Salt Lake campus will start with 15 students in the first batch.

"The course content of the program is tailored for Indian needs and reflects the Indian work environment and issues while conforming to world standards," he claimed.
