The book that inspired me

We often read or hear that good leadership is all about managing people. However, we fail to understand that leadership is not just about managing people, but managing the right people best suited for the job.

This is what Jim Collins has explained in his well-researched book, Good to Great. The author explains in a simple manner that a leader must first get on-board the right people and then give these employees a challenging portfolio or project that will help them and the organisation to bring out the best within them.

I must point out, though, that it is difficult to follow all the principles described in the book, as we are all bound by organisational culture and ethics. Even then, Good to Great continues to inspires me.

It remains relevant, simple and has a sharp focus, which guides a manager through the ever evolving business environment.
