In In Spite of the Gods, Edward Luce documents a fascinating account of India "" past, present and future. He examines the land historically, politically, geographically, culturally, sociologically ... you name the context and Luce has it covered.

In spite of the Gods for me was a great revision of things I already know about India, and learnings of those I didn't. There were questions, many answers, but never any doubt that Indians are destined for great things as a nation, despite the many challenges and problems.

This book gives me great confidence in being an Indian and living here. In spite of the Gods in many ways helps me to give an explanation (to those who are keen to know about our country) of what we were and where we are headed as a nation. This book is a must read for anyone with a stake in the future of India.
