Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM), the management school of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-KGP), has launched shaadieasy.com, at a cost of Rs 2 lakh, to address the challenge of marriage logistics.
Mohd Athar, Akshat Mohindra, Hima T K and Pradyumna Mahajani, students of the graduating batch of 2009 at VGSOM, have launched shaadieasy.com, which will provide prospective brides and grooms information on marriage halls, caterers, invitation card printers, car rentals, sweet shops, among others.
The site will provide customers reliable information pertaining to logistics and also has features like comparison of prices and setting up of appointments with the service providers. From the customers’ perspective, they will get this information free of cost, while the service providers will get access and visibility to a large internet audience for a nominal listing fee.
The students conceptualized this venture during their final semester at VGSOM. The Science and Technology Entrepreneurs’ Park (STEP) at IIT Kharagpur also helped them in setting up this venture by assisting and aiding them with various resources.
Currently, the students have funded the venture themselves. The costs involved were mainly those for the website development and data collection. The four students will be moving to different cities for their jobs and will continue to execute this venture from there.
