Welingkar Institute of Management gets autonomous status

Will get freedom for structuring its programmes, designing course curricula as per industry requirements and planning internships

Welingkar Institute of Management today said that it has been conferred with an autonomous status for all its University programmes by the University of Mumbai for five years, starting from the current academic year.

With this autonomy the institute said that they get freedom for structuring its programmes, designing the course curricula as per the industry requirements and planning internships.

Prof Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, WeSchool said that for the students, it means that, they will have a contemporary, curriculum in sync with the industry needs.

"It will also empower us to provide skill based education that will facilitate job creation by aligning skills of the workforce to industry needs," he said.

S P Mandali's Prin L.N Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, established in 1977, and has been conducting the two year full-time MMS program affiliated to the University of Mumbai from 1984.

The Institute has also been offering the 3 years Part-Time Masters programs in Marketing, Information Management, Finance and Human Resource Management for professionals with work experience from 1988 onwards.
