Indicating robust participation of women in corporate India, the number of female employees in top 100 companies in terms of the best workplace for the fairer sex picked up by 5 per cent in 2017 compared to the previous year, says a study.
With this, the overall percentage representation of women in 100 best companies for female employees is 30.55 per cent, this year from 25.25 per cent in 2016.
The study on Best Companies for Women in India (BCWI) is conducted by Avtar Group --a diversity advocate and workplace inclusion expert -- and Working Mother Media.

Northern Trust Bank, EY, People Combine Educational Initiatives, Schneider Electric India and Shell India Markets are the other companies on top 10 list.
According to the study, the top 10 companies together employ 2.36 lakhs of women this is 50.52 per cent of all women in the list of top 100 best companies for females.
"There is a 5 per cent surge in the representation of women in the 100 best between last year and this year. The overall percentage representation of women in 2017-100 best is 30.55 per cent," the study said.
The study also found an 11 per cent surge in women workforce at entry levels in 2017, from that of 2016.
Among the top 100, companies from IT/ITES sector have the highest women representation at 36 per cent in 2017. This is followed by financial services with the representation of 12 per cent women workforce.
About 44 per cent of the companies on top 100 list have between 1,001 5,000 employees, while 7.92 per cent of the 100 Best has between 15,001 30,000 employees.
A majority 61 per cent of the companies on the list were incorporated in India between 1991 2010 and 7 per cent were established post 2010.
