XUB new campus to be operational this month

The newly established Xavier University, Bhubaneswar,  (XUB) will start operations from its new campus located on the outskirts of the city from June 20.

The new campus is coming up on 35 acres at Kurki industrial estate in Nijigardh village near Pipili.

“The new campus will be operational from June 20 with the registration of the students following a ten day preparatory classes. The campus, spread over 35 acres at Kurki, will house  the new batch of students of the postgraduate programme in business management (MBA), postgraduate programme in human resources management (MHRM) and postgraduate programme in rural management (MBA-RM). Work at the new campus is on full swing and will be completed by the date,” said Father Paul Fernandes, vice chancellor, XUB.
 

Similarly, the classes for three year graduate programmes in accountancy, marketing, finance and human resources will start in July at the new campus.

The varsity has rolled out its maiden three year graduation programmes in commerce and management studies for which it  has received more than 400 applications.

Named as ‘School of Commerce’ of Xavier University, it will offer bachelor of commerce (accounting), bachelor of commerce (finance), bachelor of management studies (marketing) and bachelor of management studies (human resource). The candidates with minimum 55 per cent in any discipline in +2 level examinations will have to appear for a written test scheduled  on June 8 for getting admission for the bachelor’s degree. Few seats may be allotted to highly meritorious students, who have scored 95 per cent or more marks, directly.

However, the programmes  like executive one year MBA (full-time), executive one year diploma (part-time) programme, integrated doctoral programme in management (Integrated PhD), doctoral programme in management and the second year of the MBA programmes will continue to run from the existing campus of Xavier Institute of Management located in the city, Fernandes said.

The Xavier university bill passed last year mandates 50 per cent reservation for students from Odisha. It has plans to offer academic programmes in streams like arts, science, cultural and media education.
