The students of the first year management programme of Xavier Institute of Management-Bhubaneswar (XIMB) have come forward for the welfare of the differently able and spastic children at the Open Learning Systems (OLS) in the city.
Working under the banner of ‘Reach Out’, the socially motivated students of XIMB have taken the initiative to promote the Chocols brand of chocolates prepared by the spastic children.
The XIMB team has made efforts to connect the Chocols brand with various corporate organizations to help create sustainable market for these chocolates.
The team has already talked to corporate organizations like Vodafone, Tata Teleservices, Dhamara Port Company Limited and Aircel in this regard.
“Many of these organizations have CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities and have given us a very positive response in support of the benevolent exercise. We had to face a lot of difficulties in having to convince people about the cause which we supported and also on the quality of chocolates”, said a student.
“The sales have been a huge success both within and outside the XIMB campus and all the proceeds from the sales have gone for the development of OLS. As of now, Reach Out has donated three wheel chairs and other items for the kids”, said Fr Tony Uvary, dean, administration of XIMB, who is the guiding spirit behind this initiative.
OLS is an organization working for the upliftment of differently able children by educating them and creating a space for them in the society.
