The National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (Nafed) and state co-operative agencies may have to procure about 0.5 million tonnes of rapeseed/mustard and between 15,000 tonnes and 20,000 tonnes of safflower seeds in the ensuing rabi marketing season under price support operations.

These estimates were made in an inter-state meeting of co-operative marketing agencies convened by Nafed to assess the current oilseed crop prospects and the anticipated prices and procurement scenario. The government is, however, yet to announce the new minimum support prices of rabi oilseeds.
