10K IS BACK, Sensex up 431pts

The Sensex crossed the 10,000-mark, and touched a high of 10,002. The index is now up 431 points at 9976.

Tata Steel has zoomed over 9% to Rs 453. Satyam has surged 8.7% to Rs 670.

Bajaj Auto, Hindalco and Hero Honda have rallied 7% each to Rs 2,678, Rs 163 and Rs 751, respectively.

TCS has moved up 6.7% to Rs 1,659. Tata Motors and HDFC Bank have gained 6.6% each at Rs 740 and Rs 742, respectively.

Out of 2,208 stocks traded so far, 1,855 have advanced, 309 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
