68 scrips at new peaks

 The Indian equity market set a record of sorts today when 25 per cent of the scrips traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) hit their 52-week highs.

 Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex regained more than it had lost in the last two sessions on the back of sustained buying across the board, which helped the index close firmly above the 5,200-mark.

 The Sensex closed at 5,229.34 today, up 1.91 per cent (97.80 points) over its previous close.

 As many as 800 stocks, accounting for 34 per cent of the number of actively traded stocks, hit new 52-week highs in the seven trading days of December.

 Today, of the 1,491 scrips traded under the A, B and B1 categories on the BSE, as many as 375 scrips closed the day at 52-week highs.

 Of these, 68 scrips were at all-time highs. This league of extraordinary scrips includes 45 scrips from the BSE
