As the market ended higher for a second straight week, our fund managers were busy restructuring their portfolio's. A total of 56 transactions took place, with as much as 36 trades on the sell side. Sadanand Shetty executed the most (26 trades) and Kashyap Pujara the least - mere four trades.

While the benchmark BSE 200 index gained 3.4 per cent last week, the index is still down 33.5 per cent since the start of Smart Portfolios on September 1, 2008. Amar Ambani’s portfolio is now up 2.14 per cent as against 0.51 per cent the previous week. Portfolios of Anand Agarwal and Sadanand Shetty too showed improvement on a week-on-week basis to - 16.02 per cent and 8.94 per cent, respectively. Kashyap Pujara, however, saw a marginal drop in his net worth to 17.92 per cent as against 18.25 per cent the week before.

Anand Agarwal portfolio improved by 3.73 per cent. While Jet Airways and Reliance Communications continue to remain a part of his top holdings, Suzlon Energy, ICICI Bank and BHEL, too, compromise over 5 per cent of his assets each.

The prime reason for the recovery in his net worth has been Suzlon, as the stock has given him a positive return of over 23 per cent so far. His net worth at the end of week stood at Rs 8.40 lakh, with over Rs 5 lakh in cash and a return of 16.02 per cent.

Of the four transactions he executed, Pujara sold a significant chunk in Reliance and booked a loss. Reliance accounted for a little over 25 per cent of his portfolio holding, at an average cost price of Rs 1,640.73 per shares as of last week.

He sold 100 shares out of the 150 he held for an average price of Rs 1,448.06 - a net loss of 11.74 per cent. Sterlite now has the maximum weightage in his portfolio followed by Reliance and ICICI Bank. His net worth stands at Rs 8.17 lakh, with around Rs 5.26 lakh of cash and a negative return of 18.25 per cent.

Sadanand Shetty too saw over 2 per cent improvement in his net worth last week. Out of 36 trades he executed, only six were on the buy side as he went on a profit-taking spree and increased his cash component by over Rs 2 lakh. He booked maximum profit in Bharti Airtel.

He has spread his risk across board with a maximum of 3.5 per cent holding in a particular stock. His net worth now stands at Rs 9.11 lakh, with around Rs 6.76 lakh of cash and a negative return of 8.94 per cent.

Amar Ambani completely revamped his portfolio by exiting from all old counters and entering into new ones. Among his old holdings - he made a smart 40.5 per cent gain on investments in Reliance, over 17 per cent returns from Union Bank and Bharti Airtel, respectively, and over 5 per cent gain in Tech Mahindra.

His new look portfolio is a mix of capital goods and infrastructure. BHEL holds the maximum weightage of 6.19% while Tata Steel the least of 1.68%. With a positive return of 2.14 per cent, his net worth now stands at Rs 10.21 lakh with nearly Rs 8.50 lakh in cash.
