Shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Asian Paints were trading higher by 2% each on the BSE, on reports that the scrips would be added in the 30-share S&P BSE Sensex index with effect from December 21.
This is part of the exchange's semi-annual exercise to reconstitute several of its benchmark indices from December 21.
Adani Ports and & SEZ was up 3% at Rs 277, while Asian Paints up 2.4% at Rs 847 on the BSE at 10:34 AM, as compared to 0.07% decline in the benchmark index.
On the other hand, Hindalco Industries (down 3.5% at Rs 74.60) and Vedanta (down 2.3% at Rs 91) will be excluded from BSE Sensex index.
