All-round buying lifts Sensex by 197pts

The Sensex has zoomed to the day's high of 11,844 - up 197 points.

Cipla has soared over 5% to Rs 261. ONGC and HDFC have rallied nearly 3% each to Rs 1,362 and Rs 1,290, respectively.

Tata Steel has surged 2.7% to Rs 640. Grasim, Maruti and Hero Honda are up over 2% each at Rs 2,350, Rs 886 and Rs 843, respectively.

Infosys, Wipro and Satyam, too, have zoomed over 2% each to Rs 3,217, Rs 538 and Rs 779, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely positive. Out of 2,297 stocks traded so far, 1,522 have moved up, 712 have slipped and 63 are unchanged.
