Almond prices surged by Rs 100 per 40 kg bag in the national capital today, largely on pick up in demand in the domestic markets, driven by marriage season.
Tight stocks following fall in supplies from overseas markets also supported the price surge.
Almond (california) prices firmed by Rs 100 to Rs 10,300 per 40 kg, while its kernel moved up to Rs 370-375 from previous close of Rs 365-370 per kg.
Marketmen said increased demand from stockists and retailers due to marriage season, restricted supplies from overseas markets, also gave push to rising almond prices.
