Shares of Alstom Projects today jumped nearly 5 per cent on the BSE after the company signed a 243 million euro contract to supply coaches to the Chennai Metro Rail project.
Alstom projects jumped 4.60 per cent to touch a high of Rs 754.70 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. It was later trading at Rs 740.05, up 2.58 per cent.
On the National Stock Exchange, the stock was trading at Rs 743, up 2.92 per cent.
Alstom and Chennai Metro Rail signed a 243 million euro (Rs 1,470 crore) contract on Thursday to supply 168 cars for Chennai's metro line.
Meanwhile, the broader market Sensex was also trading higher by 321.82 points today, at 19,121.48.
