Aluminium prices weakened by one rupee to Rs 102.80 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators indulged in booking profits, supported by a weak demand in the spot market.
Weak trend in it prices at the London Metal Exchange also influenced the trading sentiment.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, aluminium for September-month fell by one rupee, or 0.96 per cent, to Rs 102.80 per kg, with an open interest of one lot.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October traded lower by Rs 0.90, or 0.86 per cent, to Rs 103.80 per kg, with a business volume of five lots.
Marketmen said the weakness in aluminium futures was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators at prevailing levels and subdued demand for the metal at spot markets.
At the London Metal Exchange counter, aluminium dropped 0.6 per cent to $2,303.50 a metric tonne.
