Alumininum futures rise on firm spot demand

Aluminium prices rose by Rs 1.30, or 1.43 per cent to Rs 92.35 per kg in futures market today on pick up in demand at spot markets.

Firming trend at London Metal Exchange also supported the uptrend. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in June contract rose Rs 1.30, or 1.43 per cent to Rs 92.35 per kg, with an open interest of 520 lots. 

The metal for delivery in May contract also moved up by Rs 1.20, or 1.33 per cent to Rs 91.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,403 lots.

Marketmen said pick up in demand at spot markets and reports of a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange mainly pushed up aluminium prices at futures trade.

 

Meanwhile, aluminium rose by 1.26 per cent to $2,230 a metric tone on the London Metal Exchange.
