Aluminium futures today moved down by Rs 0.25, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 101.55 per kg as speculators booked profits despite firm global cues.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the August contract of aluminium fell by Rs 0.15 to Rs 101.55 per kg, with a turnover of 377 lots.
The metal for delivery in September also eased by Rs 0.05 to Rs 102.55 per kg, with a turnover of 4 lots. At the London Metal Exchange, aluminum gained 0.6 per cent to $2,203 a tonne.
Marketmen said weakness in aluminium futures was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators at prevailing levels and subdued demand for the metal at the spot markets.
Firmness in base metals in global market on weaker dollar, however, restricted the losses.
