Aluminium prices moved up by Rs 0.65, or 0.67 per cent, to Rs 97.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in spot demand amid a firm trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, aluminium for delivery in October contract rose by Rs 0.65, or 0.67 per cent, to Rs 97.50 per kg, with a turnover of 4 lots.

The metal for delivery in September contract also gained Rs 0.25, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 96.25 per kg, with a turnover of 29 lots, while August contracts gained Rs 0.20, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 95.35 per kg in a turnover of 305 lots.

Marketmen said increased demand for the metal at the spot market and firm trend in base metals at global markets mainly supported the hike in aluminium futures.
