Buoyed by a firming global trend, aluminium prices traded higher by 0.64% to Rs 118.25 per kg in futures trade on speculators increasing their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in June edged up by 75 paise, or 0.64% to Rs 118.25 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,351 lots.

July aluminium traded higher by the same margin to Rs 118.60 per kg in 26 lots.

Analysts said a firming trend in the global markets and pick-up in spot market demand pushed up zinc futures prices.

Meanwhile, aluminium rose by 1.2% to $2,646.75 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange.
