Aluminium trades 0.4% higher on overseas cues

Prices went up as speculators enlarged positions

Aluminium futures for February traded higher by 40 paise, or 0.35% to Rs 114.05 per kg in 1,722 lots.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the March contract edged up by 30 paise, or 0.26% to Rs 115.15 per kg in 158 lots.

Prices went up as speculators enlarged positions.

In global markets aluminium traded near a one-month high as its demand prospects improved amid advancing car sales and rising fuel costs.

On the London Metal Exchange (LME), the three-month contract increased 0.2% to $2,147 a tonne.
