In order to protect India from becoming a dumping ground for poultry products, the government should impose barriers like higher tariff, sanitary and phyto sanitary measures, traceability rules and put in place domestic standards for health and hygiene, a senior official of Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group of Companies said.

Speaking to Business Standard, SK Singh, general manager of the company said that removal of the quantitative restrictions in April this year has led to the import of products of unknown brands which were cleared by the customs without checking them for health, hygiene and PFA labelling standards.
