Ashapura Minechem hits 52-week high on Merrill Lynch stake buy

Merrill Lynch bought 6,52,464 shares of Ashapura Minechem at Rs 57.91 on the NSE.

Ashapura Minechem is locked in upper circuit for third day in a row, up 10% at Rs 65.15 on the NSE, after Merrill Lynch acquired stake in the mining company through open market.

The stock opened at Rs 58.10 and hit a low of Rs 57.25 so far. A combined 3.9 million shares have already changed hands on the counter and there are pending buy orders for 308,622 shares on the NSE and BSE.

On December 02, 2013 Merrill Lynch Capital Markets Espana S.A. SVB bought 6,52,464 shares of Ashapura Minechem  at Rs 57.91 on the NSE, the bulk deal data shows.

Meanwhile, on Friday, November 29, Albula Investment Fund had acquired 9.47% stake or 7.86 million shares in Ashapura Minechem from Volclay International through bulk deal on BSE and NSE.

Volclay International Corporation sold shares via two block deals - one block deal was of 37,50,285 equity shares at Rs 45.75 apiece on the BSE and other one was of 41,07,060 shares at Rs 48.70 on the NSE.

Volclay International Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of NYSE-listed AMCOL International Corporation, holds 18.94% stake in Ashapura before the transaction.
