Ashok Leyland races ahead on Sept data

 The counter moved up on good buying support after the company reported good sales for September. Total vehicle sales rose 41.82 per cent to 4,371 units in September 2003, from 3,082 units in September 2002.

 Exports were up 21.3 per cent at 244 units, from 201 units in the corresponding period last fiscal. Total domestic sales during April to September 2003-04 grew by 29.6 per cent to 19,205 units, from 14,817 units in the same period last fiscal.

 For the first quarter ended 30 June 2003, Ashok Leyland posted a 51.9 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 14.80 crore, compared to a net profit of Rs 9.74 crore in the same period last year.
