Asian markets extend gains

Asian markets have extended gains, after a flat start this morning. Last week, the stocks had taken a beating on fears that the euro
zone debt crisis would hit world economic growth.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng has moved up 112 points at 19,658. Japan's Nikkei, however, is down 20 points at 9,764.

Singapore's Strait Times is quoted at 2,740 up 39 points. South Korea's Seoul Composite is up seven points at 1,608. Taiwan Weighed index is at 7,341, up 103 points.

The Asian indices have opened flat.

Hang Seng is quoting at 19,500, weaker by 45 points or 0.24% and the Nikkei has opened at 9754, lower by 30 points or 0.31%.

 

Seoul Composite is quoting at 1,599, weaker by 1 points or 0.06%, Taiwan Weighted is at 7,270, higher by 33 points or 0.45% and Straits Times is at 2,735, up 34 points or 1.25%.

Shanghai Composite is at 2,639, up 56 points or 2.1%.
