The Hang Seng has slipped 201 points to 13,589. The Nikkei has tumbled 387 points to 8,512.
The Taiwan Weighted index has shed 41 points at 4,652. The Straits Times index has dropped 37 points to 1,782, and the Seoul Composite index is down a point at 1,091.
The Shanghai Composite index is down two points at 1,715.
