The Hang Seng is down 55 points at 14,992. The Nikkei has slipped 57 points to 8,608.
The Taiwan Weighted index has shed 52 points at 4,562. The Straits Times index is down seven points at 1,768, and the Seoul Composite index has declined four points to 1,154.
The Shanghai Composite index has dropped 50 points to 1,914.
