The Hang Seng is down 44 points at 13,927. The Nikkei has plunged 380 points to 8,456.
The Taiwan Weighted index is up 13 points at 4,467. The Straits Times has advanced 18 points to 1,794, and the Seoul Composite index has added four points to 1,160.
The Shanghai Composite index has declined 20 points to 1,881.
