The Asian markets have opened on a positive note with the Jakarta Composite and the Nikkei indices being the only exception.
The top gainers for the day are Straits Times up 1% followed by Hang Seng and Taiwan Weighted gaining 0.8% and 0.7% respectively. The Hang Seng index started the week on a positive note putting an end to the eight day slump. Energy shares and property developers are leading the gains today on account of bargain buying.
On the other hand, the Japanese stocks lost ground today as the auto stocks fell on worries of a higher yen and a possible power shortage in the country. The Nikkei index is down 0.2% at 9,838. Jakarta Composite is flat with a negative bias at 3,794, shedding 0.1%
