Asian markets open in red; Shanghai down 1%

The Asian markets have opened on a negative note this morning.

The Hang Seng is down 60 points at 19,138. The Nikkei has slipped 55 points to 9,467.

The Shanghai Composite index is 1% down at 2,601.

The Straits Times and the Seoul Composite indices are marginally down at 2,687 and 1,579, respectively.The Taiwan Weighted Index has declined 0.5% to 7,128.
