The Hang Seng has slumped 499 points to 12,676. The Nikkei has tumbled 192 points to 7,185.
The Taiwan Weighted index has dropped 55 points to 4,422. The Straits Times index has slipped 40 points to 1,591, and the Seoul Composite index has shed 39 points at 1,061.
The Shanghai Composite index is down 42 points at 2,263.
